Japanese Food Replicas
Many restaurants in Japan display colorful and precise food replicas in their show windows. It's often hard to believe they are fake. As the food replicas are appealing to the eyes so much, you might spend a lot of time in front of the show windows looking at them. Gujo-city in Gifu prefecture is Japan's top food replica producing region. It takes about 2 hours from Nagoya-city via JR and Nagaragawa Railway to Gujo-hachiman. There are many food replica studios, and some of them offer workshops for tourists. Have fun making your own food replicas in Gujo. If you want to buy some food replicas, Kappabashi Street in Tokyo is a place to go. If you are visiting Japan this fall and planning to travel by train for a few days, purchasing a JR East Pass Special can save you some money. The JR East Flexible 3-day Pass costs 10,000 yen (age 12- ) or 5,000 yen (age 6-11) each. It's on sale now until mid November and can be used from September 1 to December 31, 2010. Hokkaido Furano/Biei Scenic Spots
Hokkaido, is an ideal destination to enjoy the beauty of nature, especially during the summer. Furano/Biei area in the central Hokkaido is known for its picturesque views of many hills although the lavender in the fields has finished blooming for the year. Most travelers use tour buses or rent cars to look around the area. If you are traveling by public transportations, renting a bike near train stations might not be a bad idea if you don't mind going up and down the hills.
